Chemical Prothrombin

Name Prothrombin
CAS Type 1 Name Blood-coagulation factor II
Equivalent Terms Blood Coagulation Factor II | Coagulation Factor II | Differentiation Reversal Factor | Factor, Differentiation Reversal | Factor II | Factor II, Coagulation | II, Coagulation Factor
CAS Registry Number 9001-26-7
Definition A plasma protein that is the inactive precursor of thrombin. It is converted to thrombin by a prothrombin activator complex consisting of factor Xa, factor V, phospholipid, and calcium ions. Deficiency of prothrombin leads to hypoprothrombinemia.
