Equivalent Terms | Antigen, CD31 | Antigens, CD31 | CD31 Antigen | CD31 Antigens | PECAM-1 | Platelet Endothelial Cell Adhesion Molecule 1 |
Definition | A cell adhesion molecule, composed of a series of Ig-like domains, and expressed on virtually all MONOCYTES; PLATELETS; and GRANULOCYTES. PECAM-1 is highly expressed on endothelial cells and concentrated at the junctions between them. It is essential for TRANSENDOTHELIAL MIGRATION of leukocytes and removal of apoptotic cells by PHAGOCYTES. |
