Name Fas Ligand Protein
Equivalent Terms Antigen, CD178 | Antigens, CD178 | CD178 Antigen | CD178 Antigens | CD95 Antigen Ligand | CD95L | CD95 Ligand | Fas Ligand | Fas Ligand (FasL) | FasL Protein | TNF Superfamily, Member 6 | Tumor Necrosis Factor Ligand Superfamily Member 6
Definition A transmembrane protein belonging to the tumor necrosis factor superfamily that was originally discovered on cells of the lymphoid-myeloid lineage, including activated T-LYMPHOCYTES and NATURAL KILLER CELLS. It plays an important role in immune homeostasis and cell-mediated toxicity by binding to the FAS RECEPTOR and triggering APOPTOSIS.
